The new kitchen occupies what was previously part of the family room. A high window lets in south light but creates privacy.

Adding more volume, skylights, and tall windows totally changes the sense of space and spatially connects the two levels.

The connection to the large back yard is increased by an order of magnitude.

The new three way fireplace connects this space to the sitting room beyond. The orange wall conceals mechanical equipment and wiring.

A wall that once had cabinets has been removed to create a large sitting room out of what was once an over-sized entry foyer.

The space where most of the kitchen was is now an office with french doors that can close it off from the other living spaces. New, larger windows now face the mountain views.

Looking in from the backyard shows how the previous deck and roof made for a closed-in space. The new open space and warm colors are especially inviting in the evening.

On the exterior, shutters have been removed and windows have been replaced and made larger. Changing from white walls with black trim to a rich grey with light trim updates the look.
